15th of February – My Best Time Yet
Pushing Limits & Unexpected Conversations
Woke up around 10 AM, played Minecraft for 30 minutes with my brother-in-law, then quickly realized that if I stayed, I’d get nothing done. So, I packed up and hit the road, heading back home from Brisbane.
With about 1.5 hours left in my drive, I planned out my day:
- 🏋️ Gym (Pull Day) at Goodlife – Chose it over Snap Fitness since it has more space and fewer wait times.
- 🏃 Running Goal – Aim for at least 2 km, which would take roughly 15 minutes.
- 💻 Laptop Work – Need to finalize my XP leveling system since I didn’t work on it yesterday.
Workout Highlights & Surprising Conversations
- 💪 Pull Day Session: Focused on low rows, lat pull-downs, rear delt work, and biceps.
- 🗣️ Interrupted Mid-Workout: A guy approached me, complimented my tattoos, and we ended up talking for 20 minutes about anime and ink. Turns out, he knows my little brother and my mom from the local butcher! Small world.
- ⏳ Struggled with Stop-Start Training: Kept getting interrupted by more gym conversations, which threw off my workout flow, but it was great meeting new people.
The Big Achievement: My Fastest Run Yet
After lifting, I decided to push myself on the treadmill:
- 🏃 Started at 10.5 km/h → Didn’t feel too bad.
- 📈 Kept increasing speed → Eventually hit 15 km/h.
- 🔥 Final Goal: 4 km in under 20 minutes.
- ✅ Result: 4.14 km in 20 minutes! Fastest I’ve ever run.
This was a huge milestone—I couldn’t believe it. A few months ago, I was struggling to run 300 meters, and now I’m almost at my 5K in 25-minute goal.
Other Wins for the Day
- ✅ Tracked my calories & adjusted intake—ate 440g of salmon and used ChatGPT to calculate raw vs. cooked weight.
- ✅ Had an epic dinner—Chicken Karaage bao buns, pork belly, lamb chop, and taro cake.
- ✅ Made the smart call to skip Pokémon Go—prioritized reading & guitar instead.
- ✅ Finished a podcast episode on creative writing—Brandon Sanderson’s Kickstarter success story was inspiring.
Lessons & Self-Reflection
What did I learn today?
- 🏃 Treadmill speed isn’t as scary as I thought—I was nervous about increasing speed, but I adapted.
- 📚 Brandon Sanderson is an author I want to read—his work sounds fascinating.
- 🏋️ Training with others pushes me more—planning a push day workout with my housemate’s brother tomorrow.
What scared me today?
😨 Cranking up the treadmill speed—kept imagining myself falling off like a YouTube fail video.
Looking Ahead
- 📌 Push Day at the gym tomorrow—training with a partner.
- 📌 Continue refining my XP leveling system.
- 📌 Stick to my running momentum—try another fast-paced session soon.
- 📌 Tidy up my space—my room looks like a “Harry Potter-style” setup right now.
Final Thoughts
This was a huge progress day—not just for fitness but for personal growth. I’m stronger, faster, and more consistent than ever.
“You’re enough. You’ve got this. Go kick some ass and crush those goals!”
