Mindfulness & Progress – 10th of February
A Day of Wins: Gym, Running, and Breaking Comfort Zones
Today was all about pushing myself—mentally and physically. I started the day with an unexpected moment: my housemate tested positive for COVID, but after taking a test myself, I’m still COVID-free (since forever!).
Woke up around 3:30 PM, went to the gym for a 40-minute session, and then headed straight to work. The gym was packed with kids, but luckily, none of them were using the machines I needed. Win!
Workout Highlights & Form Focus
- Leg Press – 5 sets of 12-15 reps, increasing weight gradually while being mindful of my past rib injury.
- Romanian Deadlifts – Started light and worked up to 15kg per side. My grip strength needs work, but I refuse to use straps—I want to build natural strength.
- Glute Kickbacks – Realized how weak my left knee is, so I focused on letting my left leg lead the exercise to correct imbalances.
Overall, I’m focusing on perfecting my form, rather than lifting heavier. Injury prevention > ego lifting.
Breaking Barriers: Running in Public
After working a 12-hour shift, I decided to go for a run—which is something I usually only do at night when no one’s around. Today, I ran in broad daylight, wearing a compression top and singlet. Felt self-conscious at first, but guess what? Nobody cared.
- Distance: 2.7 km
- Fastest average pace so far!
- Tested my running water bottle—it didn’t leak, which is a small but important victory.
Other Wins for the Day
- ✅ Read my book at work
- ✅ Played 16 minutes of guitar (should’ve done 20, but I had fun just jamming)
- ✅ Called my friend about my Japan trip—decided I’ll do a 13-day solo tour before meeting up with them
- ✅ Tracked my calories, though I might be 300-400 calories under
- ✅ Made progress on my Japan trip plans—just need to email the travel agent and book my flights
Lessons & Self-Reflection
What scared me?
Running in public during the day—pushed past my comfort zone and survived.
What did I learn?
- My left knee is much weaker than my right, and I need to focus on balancing strength.
What’s next?
- 📌 Book personal training sessions with my brother
- 📌 Call my dad and check in
- 📌 Confirm Japan flights with my travel agent
- 📌 Check my dentist appointment—might reschedule to free up my long weekend
Final Thoughts
This was a super productive day, and I’m proud of myself for sticking to my habits. Not every day will be perfect, but progress beats perfection every time.
“You’ve got this. You’re enough. Step out of your comfort zone. Do something that scares you.”
