28th of February – I Nearly Bought a Hello Kitty Guitar
Morning Reflections & Realizations
Time Check: 11:21 AM – Woke up feeling groggy after getting to bed at 4:00 AM. Despite the slow start, today turned out to be pretty productive.
Major Win:
Accepted into the Emergency Response Team at Work – After getting rejected last week, I got a call saying I made it in! I’ve been trying to join an emergency response team my entire mining career. It’s a dream come true and an opportunity to learn lifelong skills. I’m so grateful for the ER Captain and my boss for making it happen.
Grateful for: Everyone who believed in me and helped shuffle things around to make this possible.
Takeaway: Persistence pays off – Even after setbacks, never give up on something you truly want.
Guitar Practice & Creative Routine
Practice Session: Continued working on “Starting Over” by Chris Stapleton. Struggled with the hammer-on technique using my pointer finger, but I’m seeing progress.
Breakthrough Moment: Learned a trick from YouTube about placing fingers closer to the frets for better sound and less effort. Game-changer!
Learning Challenge: Adjusting my finger positioning and training my pinky to move in ways it’s not used to.
Takeaway: Consistency and practice lead to breakthroughs, even when it feels awkward at first.
Workout & Running Progress
Gym Session: Had a solid pool day session with my little brother, focusing on volume for safer and more controlled lifts.
Deadlifts: Practiced form with 60kg – Felt solid without any pain, which is a huge win for me.
Breakthrough Moment: Learned to use the proper footrest on the free row machine, making the exercise much more comfortable.
Running: Ran 1.5 KM at the gym despite accidentally hitting the emergency stop button. It threw me off, but I got back on track.
Takeaway: It’s not about being perfect; it’s about pushing through setbacks and learning as you go.
Mindfulness & Gratitude Check-In
Grateful for: The ER Captain and my boss for giving me this opportunity in the Emergency Response Team.
Compliment to Myself: Proud of my perseverance and resilience in chasing my goals, even when it seemed unlikely.
Takeaway: Gratitude and self-reflection keep me grounded and motivated.
Random Fun & Almost Buying a Hello Kitty Guitar
Impulse Purchase: I came super close to buying a Hello Kitty electric guitar just for the fun of it. It was $800, and I was tempted, but I decided it’s better to invest in a more versatile guitar if I’m going to spend that kind of money.
Takeaway: Sometimes it’s okay to want something silly, but it’s smart to think it through before hitting “buy.”
XP Tracking & Progress Update
Total XP Progress (Feb 28 Update):
Gym: 32.17 hours – Solid pool day session and consistent strength training.
Guitar: 11.19 hours – Making progress on difficult strumming patterns.
Reading: 9.38 hours – Getting closer to Rank 1 in reading.
Running: 44.23 KM – Close to the 50 KM goal for February!
Takeaway: Seeing the XP numbers increase is proof that consistency and hard work pay off.
Looking Ahead & Future Plans
Continue guitar practice – Focus on mastering “Starting Over” and improving hammer-on techniques.
Hit the 50 KM running goal before the end of February.
Increase reading time to hit Rank 1 soon.
Plan next gym session with an emphasis on improving deadlift form.
Takeaway: Clear goals and consistency keep me moving forward.
